About the Author
KEITH CARTER holds the endowed Walles Chair of Visual and Performing Arts at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and is the recipient of a 2009 Texas Medal of Arts Award and the Lange-Taylor Prize from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. He is the author of ten previous books, including A Certain Alchemy, Holding Venus, Keith Carter Photographs: Twenty-Five Years, Heaven of Animals, Mojo, The Blue Man, and From Uncertain to Blue. Carter’s work is included in the collections of the National Gallery of Art; sthe Art Institute of Chicago; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the J. Paul Getty Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the George Eastman House; and the Wittliff Collections’ Southwestern & Mexican Photography Collection.

I love this book! I purchased it as a gift for my son, a photographer. The photos are so artfully and sensitively composed and printed. My son also photographs children from time to time, and I thought he would enjoy Keith Carter's images. Also, the quality of the book is really good. It's a nice, tabletop size hardcover book - perfect for giving as a gift.
As one not known for a fondness of children, I was pleasantly surprised by this book which I bought only to keep my collection of Keith Carter's works complete and intact. Nearly all of these images grab your interest, and some are very special indeed. Some of the pictures would be interesting even if the children were humanely expunged, as Carter's chosen settings, props and creative techniques result in a rather surreal ambiance which would make nearly any subject intriguing. This is an outstanding monograph. Bravo!!!
